The 1961 Porsche 356 B Coupe Super 90 GT is a standout model from Porsche's iconic 356 series, representing the first variant of the 356 B T5 generation. This new generation featured a comprehensive redesign of both body and interior, along with significant updates to the powertrain.
Exterior Design:
The 356 B T5 introduced a sleek, flattened hood and a larger hood handle, giving it a distinctive front profile.
Enhanced front and rear bumpers were designed to be both larger and higher, providing improved protection and a robust appearance.
Coupe models came with front vent windows, a new feature that added to the vehicle's comfort and style.
Rear reflectors were updated, and the license plate lights were moved to the bumpers, contributing to the car's refined look.
Interior Upgrades:
Inside, the 356 B T5 boasted a completely new steering wheel, enhancing the driving experience with improved ergonomics and aesthetics.
The rear featured foldable, individual back seats, adding versatility and practicality to the coupe's design.
Model Variants:
The Coupe and Cabriolet continued the legacy of the previous 356 A generation, while the Roadster replaced the Convertible D.
A new Notchback Coupe was introduced, essentially a Cabriolet with a welded-on hardtop, offering a unique blend of styles.
Powertrain and Performance:
The 356 B T5 was available with four engine options: the 1600 Normal (base model), the 1600 Super (S), the Super 90 (S90), and the top-tier Carrera.
Our featured model, the Super 90 GT, is equipped with the powerful Super 90 (S90) engine, known for its impressive performance and reliability.
All engine variants were paired with the new 741 Transmission, which featured improved linkage and a redesigned case, enhancing the overall driving experience.
